ABC’s ongoing evaluation processes are tailored to the specific services, goals, and outcomes of each of its programs. ABC gathers qualitative and quantitative data using standardized assessment tools and custom-designed surveys through which the progress of each child and each family is measured. ABC has collaborated with independent evaluators to issue evaluation reports and disseminate its results.
Root Cause named ABC a "high performer" in an independent study of early childhood programs that "close the school-readiness gap for at-risk children," with ABC's preschoolers twice as likely to gain the essential skills needed for ongoing school success compared to a national sample of low-income children in Head Start programs.
ABC’s success in providing exceptional services has also been recognized by the award of performance-based contracts from federal, state, and city agencies. ABC has recently earned a rating of four out of four stars from Charity Navigator for the eighth consecutive year, demonstrating exceptional financial health, governance, and other best practices. Only 2% of national charities rated have achieved this many consecutive four-star ratings, which indicates that ABC outperforms most other charities in the United States.
